"I am The Life"

Jesus declared to His disciples (John 14:6). Who else is the source of all life but God Himself? “Let US, make man in OUR image, … and God formed man … and breathed into his nostrils the breath of LIFE; and man became a living soul” (Genesis 1:26; 2:7). Although we all appreciate our physical lives given to us by God, our ultimate goal is life eternal. “And the witness is this, that God gave unto us eternal life, and this life is IN His Son…” (1 John 5:11-12). God has made it very clear, IF a soul, who is responsible to God, is not IN Christ, then that soul does not have eternal life (Romans 6:23).
For Salvation is found only IN Christ (2 Timothy 2:10), as is God’s grace (2 Timothy 2:1), Redemption (Romans 3:24), Reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:19), Forgiveness (Ephesians 4:32), Sanctification (1 Corinthians 1:2), ALL spiritual blessings (Ephesians 1:3), and God’s love (Romans 8:38-39). There is only one way for all accountable men and women to get into Christ, and that is through immersion in water (Galatians 3:27; 1 Corinthians 12:13); and if baptized INTO Christ, one is found or added by God to the one and only church – the church of Christ (Acts 2:47).
Paul declared that Jesus brought light and immorality to light through the gospel (2 Timothy 1:10). New life in Christ begins at our spiritual birth (John 3:3-5), but there is only one birth, not many as most contend. The gospel is the seed (Luke 8:11), which is God’s only power to save (Romans 1:16); not some miraculous experience sent from heaven, or a burning in the bosom; the new life is brought about by obedience to God’s word (Hebrews 5:9). In the process of regeneration, ‘born of water and the Spirit,’ the soul is cleansed in the blood of the Lamb when one submits to being baptized into death. Paul is not speaking of infants, but accountable men and women. Remission of sins equates to salvation from sin – that is – eternal life IN Christ Jesus by virtue of His shed blood (Acts 2:47).
Eternal life and the shed blood of Christ are inseparable. The question every man and woman should ask themselves, is “When does newness of life begin?” Paul clearly answered this when he wrote the Christians in Rome to remind them when they received the new life in Christ. Since the gospel concerns the death, burial and resurrection of Christ, then obedience to the gospel requires our dying to self, being buried in the baptismal waters and being resurrected to the new life (Romans 6:17; 3-6). Jesus said, “I am the life,” which is true for all new creatures in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). He is the ‘new and living way’ to the Father in heaven. But the way is narrow and sadly only a few will choose to walk that path (Matthew 7:13-14). I don’t know about you, but as for me and my house, we shall serve the Lord by following His true path to salvation, and not the ways of men. Will you choose Life, or will you choose death?
